Abstract From the Canadian patent

Techniques to transmit data on a number of transmission channels in a multichannel communication system using multiple transmission schemes requiring less channel-state information (CSI). These schemes may include a partial-CSI transmission scheme that transmits a single data stream on each transmit antenna selected for use and a "beam-forming" transmission scheme that allocates all transmit power to a single transmission channel having the best performance. Each transmission scheme may provide good or near-optimum performance for a specific range of operating conditions (or operating SNRs). These multiple transmission schemes may then be combined in a piece-wise fashion to form a …

Why it's free to use

  • Filed February 19, 2003 and granted November 13, 2012. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended February 19, 2023.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by February 19, 2025.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
