The present invention generally relates to improved filter devices that allow a safer filtration and in particular a safer replacement of the filter. The filter device of the invention is adapted for filtering fluids flowing into or out of a fluid duct. The filter device comprises a container having one or more walls, wherein at least one of the walls comprises at least one filter element forming at least a portion of the wall. The container defines an interior adapted for collecting contaminants in the fluid.
