Abstract From the Canadian patent

Method and apparatus for controlling energy transfer between an energy bus (13) and a system of batteries (12) in which a control signal generator (29) operable to receive an extreme voltage representation (Ve) representing a voltage of a battery exhibiting an extreme voltage among voltages (Vn) of all batteries (20-26) in the system (12), and a representation of a reference voltage(Vre) derived from an operating parameter (P) associated with the battery exhibiting the extreme voltage is operable to produce a control , signal for use in changing the amount of energy transfer between the energy bus (13) and the system (12) in response to the aforementioned representations.

Why it's free to use

  • Filed February 4, 2003 and granted April 17, 2012. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended February 4, 2023.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by February 4, 2025.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
