Abstract From the Canadian patent

An ultrasound catheter adapted for accessing small vessels in the distal anatomy is disclosed. The ultrasound catheter (100) comprises an elongate tubular body (102) formed with a delivery lumen (112). The flexibility and dimensions of the tubular body allow access to the distal anatomy by advancement over the guidewire. An ultrasound radiating element (124) is provided along the distal end portion (106) of the tubular body for emitting ultrasound energy at a treatment site. A drug solution may also be delivered through the delivery lumen (112) and out an exit port (114) to the treatment site.

Why it's free to use

  • Filed December 3, 2002. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended December 3, 2022.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by December 3, 2024.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
