The invention concerns inertial navigation units for aircraft. In order to improve altitude measurement accuracy it consists in associating with the inertial unit (C_INERT) a radio sonde supplying the aircraft altitude (HAUT_ALT) relative to the ground and a terrain database (DTED) supplying a ground altitude (ALT_GND) at the aircraft horizontal position delivered by the inertial unit. The inertial unit supplies an altitude (ALT_HYB) which is corrected on the basis of values supplied by the radio sonde and the terrain database. A protecting radius (RPalt_hyb_cor) of the thus corrected altitude is calculated. For said calculation of the protection radius it consists in calculating in …

Why it's free to use
- Filed November 26, 2002 and granted January 15, 2013. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended November 26, 2022.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by November 26, 2024.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
