Abstract From the Canadian patent

A system and method for controlling a weld-current in an arc welding apparatus involves programming of a waveform generator (101) to supply a control signal (105) to a weld-current power supply (106) the control signal (105) being , derived from a reference waveform consisting of selected segments having fixed or predetermined amplitudes and variable durations. The reference waveform may be dynamically adjusted in response to changes in welding conditions by feeding the output of an arc current and/or voltage detector (115) back to the waveform generator (101) and varying the duration of selected predetermined amplitude segments.

Why it's free to use

  • Filed October 11, 2002 and granted June 4, 2013. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended October 11, 2022.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by October 11, 2024.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
