A novel gene 0161P2F10B (also designated 161P2F10B) and its encoded protein and variants thereof, are described wherein 161P2F10B exhibits tissue specific expression in normal adult tissue, and is aberrantly expressed in the cancers listed in Table I. Consequently, 161P2F10B provides a diagnostic prognostic, prophylactic and/or therapeutic target for cancer. The 161P2F10B gene of fragment thereof, or its encoded protein or variants thereof, or a fragment , thereof can be used to elicit a humoral or cellular immune response; antibodies or T cells reactive with 161P2F10B can be used in active or passive immunization.

Why it's free to use
- Filed November 7, 2002 and granted June 7, 2016. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended November 7, 2022.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by November 7, 2024.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
