Abstract From the Canadian patent

The present invention provides methods and ultra-low density sealing compositions for sealing pipe in well bores penetrating formations which readily fracture at low hydrostatic pressures. A method of the invention basically comprises the steps of providing a hardenable ultra-low density sealing composition comprised of an epoxide containing liquid a hardening , agent, a hardening accelerating agent a light weight filler and hollow glass michrospheres having a density in the range of from about 5 to 8.5 pounds per gallon, placing the sealing-composition in the annulus between the pipe to be sealed and the walls of the well bore and allowing the sealing composition to harden therein.

Why it's free to use

  • Filed January 16, 2002. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended January 16, 2022.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by January 16, 2024.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
