The invention concerns a colour image sensor for producing a miniature camera and a method for making same. The image sensor comprises a transparent substrate (40) at the upper surface of which are superimposed successively a coloured filter mosaic (18) a very thin silicon layer (30) including photosensitive zones and a stack of conductive (14) and insulating (16) layers defining image detection circuits for collecting electric loads generated by the illumination of the photosensitive zones through the transparent substrate.
