The invention relates to a method for the selective production of ordered carbon nanotubes by decomposition of a carbon source in the gaseous state in contact with at least one solid catalyst said catalyst taking the form of metallic particles borne by carrier grains. The catalyst grains are adapted so as to be able to form a fluidised bed containing between 1 % and 5 % by weight of metallic particles having average dimensions of between 1nm and 10nm. The decomposition takes place in a fluidised bed of catalyst grains. The invention can be used to obtain pure nanotubes with predetermined dimensions in a high yield.

Why it's free to use
- Filed June 25, 2002. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended June 25, 2022.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by June 25, 2024.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
