A method and apparatus for managing heat in exhaust gas in an aftertreatment system that uses a lean NOx adsorber is disclosed. A de-sulfation hot line and cooling line are used to control exhaust gas temperatures for adsorption regenenation and de-sulfation cycles of the aftertreatment system where each cycle may require different chemical and exhaust gas temperatures independent of the engine operation. The method and apparatus includes a SOx adsorber to provide greater durability for the subject invention.

Why it's free to use
- Filed December 17, 2003. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended December 17, 2023.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by December 17, 2025.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
