Abstract From the Canadian patent

Modeling method for creating a diffusive type 2D or 3D model, simulating the multilithological filling of a sedimentary basin over geological periods. -The model is based on numerical simulation of the evolution of a sedimentary basin from the past to the present, in a series of time steps. For each time step three major phenomena interact and are numerically modelled: the deformation of the basin the addition of sediments and the movement of these sediments in the deformed basin. To model the movement of the sediments the permanent, long-term movement (creep process slow diffusion, etc.), short-term movement (caused by rain and flood waters) and catastrophic movements (specifically …

Why it's free to use

  • Filed December 16, 2003 and granted February 12, 2013. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended December 16, 2023.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by December 16, 2025.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
