Disclosed are new quinacridone dye derivatives having characteristic fluorescence lifetimes. Also disclosed are methods for labelling target biological materials employing the quinacridone dyes and use of the labelled materials in biological assays. The quinacridone derivatives have the structure (I), in which Z1 and Z2 independently represent the atoms necessary to complete one ring, two fused ring, or three fused ring aromatic or heteroaromatic systems, each ring having five or six atoms selected from carbon atoms and optionally no more than two atoms selected from oxygen nitrogen and sulphur; R3, R4, R5, R6, R7 and R8 are independently selected from hydrogen, halogen, amide, …

Why it's free to use
- Filed May 30, 2002 and granted July 17, 2012. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended May 30, 2022.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by May 30, 2024.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
