There is described a process for producing a cover for a side airbag, which comprises first producing a polyester web, preconsolidating this web by needling and end-consolidating and fully shrinking the thus preconsolidated web by means of an embossing calender making the thus consolidated and fully shrunk web up into a cover and providing the cover with a predetermined breaking site to tear open the cover in the event of a collision. The process is simple to carry out and leads to inexpensive covers having improved properties.

Why it's free to use
- Filed November 6, 2003. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended November 6, 2023.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by November 6, 2025.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
