Abstract From the Canadian patent

The air in a room can be cleaned of ammonia by passing the air through green plants grown, hydroponically. The air passes through a falling curtain of droplets of the hydroponic water, whereby the ammonia goes into solution in the water. Microbes colonised on the roots of the, green plants break down the ammonia in the hydroponic water and assimilate , the nitrogen, into the plant tissue.

Why it's free to use

  • Filed October 29, 2003. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended October 29, 2023.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by October 29, 2025.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
