The invention relates to a mouthpiece intended for a device that is used to assess the sensitivity of the pharynx of an individual. For this purpose an , open mouthpiece (1), which is fitted with a thin guide tube (2) having one articulated end (4), is inserted into the subject's mouth. A pipe (9) is introduced into the guide tube by means of the mouthpiece under observation, until it touches the subject's palate. A measurement scale (1) which is , disposed on the tube opposite the second end of the guide tube is observed , and the tube is subsequently withdrawn over a pre-determined distance e.g. , pulled out by 1 cm, and fixed in said position on the guide tube.
