Methods and apparatus for performing biometric indentification or verification of identities using optical spectroscopy of tissue. Tissue optical spectra can be obtained by projecting optical radiation into skin and capturing the light transmitted or reflected back and out through the tissue. The tissue spectra collected preferably includes primarily light that has passed through skin tissue below the epidermis. Multiple tissue spectra and identities can be collected from one or more individuals. Why it's free to use
- Filed January 16, 2002. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended January 16, 2022.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by January 16, 2024.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
