Abstract From the Canadian patent

A fuel cell includes a membrane electrode assembly and first and second separators for sandwiching the membrane electrode assembly. A serpentine oxygen-containing gas flow field is formed on a surface of the first separator. A seal member is provided around the oxygen-containing gas flow field i.e. around the anode. Filling seals are provided in a clearance between the seal member and the cathode at positions where the leakage of an oxygen-containing gas is likely to occur.

Why it's free to use

  • Filed September 24, 2003 and granted March 1, 2011. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended September 24, 2023.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by September 24, 2025.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
