The invention pertains to the use of Group 8 transition metal carbene complexes as catalysts for olefin , cross-metathe-sis reactions. In particular ruthenium and osmium alkylidene , complexes substituted with an N-heterocyclic carbene ligand are used to catalyze cross-metathesis reactions to provide a variety of substituted and functionalized olefins, including , phosphonate-substituted olefins directly halogenated olefins, 1,1,2-, trisubstituted olefins and quaternary allylic olefins. The invention further provides a, method for creating functional diversity using the aforementioned complexes to catalyze cross-metathesis reactions of a first olefinic reactant, which mayor may not be …

Why it's free to use
- Filed April 1, 2002 and granted October 13, 2015. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended April 1, 2022.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by April 1, 2024.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
