Abstract From the Canadian patent

A panel system, particularly for flooring comprises panels , releasably secured together by coupling elements. The panels are connected together at a common joint by a form-fit connection and the coupling elements secure them simultaneously in three directions, a first direction perpendicular to the common joint a second direction perpendicular to a common surface plane of the panels, and a third direction along the common joint. The coupling elements are preferably in the configuration of a letter H, in a direction parallel to the common surface after installation. The invention provides greater security from damage during assembly, and from unwanted movement after installation.

Why it's free to use

  • Filed September 11, 2003 and granted April 26, 2011. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended September 11, 2023.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by September 11, 2025.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
