The present invention is directed to fusion proteins that can be used to assay gene transfer and expression both in vitro and in vivo. The fusion proteins contain a reporter protein e.g. a somatostatin receptor, fused to a second protein which may be a protein fusion tag. Alternatively a , fusion protein may be fused to a leader sequence. A leader sequence may localize an expressed protein, e.g. localize a fusion protein to the cell membrane. The invention includes acids encoding the fusion proteins and methods of assaying for gene expression.

Why it's free to use
- Filed February 15, 2002. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended February 15, 2022.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by February 15, 2024.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
