A method of imparting plant virus-resistance to a plant. This method involves the step of transferring a polynucleotide encoding a protein binding to a plant virus transport protein into plant cells. In an embodiment the protein , encoded by the above-described polynucleotide contains the sequence represented by the 1- to 86-positions of SEQ ID NO:2 or a sequence derived from this sequence by substitution, deletion or addition of one or several amino acids and binds to the transport protein of the plant virus. In an embodiment, the above-described polynucleotide contains the nucleotide sequence represented by the 14- to 271-positions of SEQ ID NO:1 or a nucleotide sequence …

Why it's free to use
- Filed September 10, 2001. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended September 10, 2021.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by September 10, 2023.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
