Abstract From the Canadian patent

An apparatus and method for optimizing multiple access satellite (Fig. 4) and terrestrial mobile communications network performance using random access or multiple access protocols such as frequency division multiple access (FDMA) code division multiple access (CDMA), or optimally time division multiple , access (TDMA). Performance is optimized through the use of persistence algorithms (830) in congestion control methods for random access channels in such a network, whereby mobile terminal participation (160) is eliminated from the control procedure. In one aspect, a fixed network (100 120) dynamically , directs the operation of a mobile terminal-based persistence algorithm using only …

Why it's free to use

  • Filed December 21, 2001. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended December 21, 2021.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by December 21, 2023.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
