Abstract From the Canadian patent

A fill tool (18) for directing bone replacement material (26) into an expandable bag within a reamed out disc includes a deflector (24) at its distal end which deflects the flow of such material to a one or more side openings (30, 32) at the distal end of the fill tool (18). This allows the tool to be used without being ejected when filling the bag under pressure and greatly increases the distraction forces possible when filling the bag.

Why it's free to use

  • Filed July 3, 2001. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended July 3, 2021.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by July 3, 2023.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
