The present invention have discovered that the solution rheology of cellulose ethers prepared from cellulose pulp is altered by mercerizing and recovering cellulose pulp before preparing the cellulose ethers. For example the , solution viscosity of carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) produced from mercerized and recovered cellulose pulp is significantly greater than that produced from mercerized and recovered cellulose pulp is significantly greater than that produced from non-mercerized cellulosed pulp. The present invention provides a method of preparing cellulose ethers comprising the steps of (a) obtaining mercerized and recovered cellulose pulp and (b) recovered cellulose pulp into …

Why it's free to use

  • Filed October 31, 2001. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended October 31, 2021.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by October 31, 2023.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
