Abstract From the Canadian patent

The invention provides novel techniques for determining the interaction between binding partners. The first binding partner is immobilized to a surface or a colloid and a second binding partner immobilized to a surface or a colloid. Non-specific binding techniques including a SAM, provide for the , immobilization of a wide variety of species. A mixture may be separated into various componens and these components may then be fastened to either the colloids or the surfaces. Binding interaction between the binding partners may be determined through a variety of assays.

Why it's free to use

  • Filed November 1, 2001 and granted July 14, 2015. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended November 1, 2021.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by November 1, 2023.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
