A process for producing an aromatic polyester carbonate which comprises providing a raw material mixture comprising an aromatic dicarboxylic acid an , aromatic diol, and a diaryl carbonate a prepolymerization step, a , crystallization step and a solid-state polymerization step as essential steps, and optionally has also a compression forming step. The process has allowed the production of an aromatic polyester carbonate which is reduced in discoloration and has an increased degree of polymerization with good productivity.
