A surgical instrument is disclosed, preferably for the minimally invasive intervention in human or animal tissues comprising a, for example, needle-, shaped base body (3) with at least one passage formed from a hollow fibre (2). The at least one hollow fibre (2) is surrounded by a matrix (5) of a fibre composite material. The use of a hollow fibre (2) permits a simple production in particular, of instruments with a number of passages. The use of more than one hollow fibre (2) within the base body (3) increases the application possibilities, for example, simultaneous monitoring and treatment of the tissue.

Why it's free to use
- Filed October 11, 2001. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended October 11, 2021.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by October 11, 2023.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
