The invention discloses a method of controlling congestion in a wireless telecommunication system for packet transfers between a mobile terminal (100) and a TCP sender (310) via the Internet for example. The system comprises a , packet switched network and a radio network controller (RNC) (130) that hosts a plurality of uplink (330) and downlink (320) buffers wherein a pair of uplink and downlink buffers are associated with a specific communication channel.
