Abstract From the Canadian patent

The invention concerns a system which consists in inserting in an electronic message of appropriate type (for example HTML or XML format) a code automatically generating a request over a communication network when said message is being displayed by its recipient. The request consists in calling on a specific single name file server or a page (URL) passing a single code as parameter. Said file name or said single code corresponding to a previously generated recording. The system can then select said recording and send to its author confirmation that the corresponding message has been actually displayed by the recipient.

Why it's free to use

  • Filed September 19, 2001. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended September 19, 2021.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by September 19, 2023.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
