A method for serializing and deserializing program objects that is versioning sensitive. A, program object is serialized into a persistent object by saving only those data fields that, contain non-default data. The persistent object is deserialized to be used by a, deserializing application by first creating a blank program object of the same version as, the deserializing application and then populating it with the non-default data stored in the, persistent object. The version of the deserializing application need not he the same as the, version of the serializing application.

Why it's free to use
- Filed February 26, 2003. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended February 26, 2023.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by February 26, 2025.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
