Abstract From the Canadian patent

A novel apparatus (100) for generating temperature gradients is described. The apparatus includes a semiconductive wafer (110) and electrical connectors (114a, 114b) attached to, preferably, one of the edges of the wafer. Methods for transferring the temperature gradients to strata are described. The temperature gradients on the strata can be used for analyses of molecules particularly biological macromolecules. The present invention also includes improved methods for determining the thermal stability of binding complexes.

Why it's free to use

  • Filed July 30, 2001. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended July 30, 2021.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by July 30, 2023.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
