A system and method for managing electronic information using a computer system for one or more users, comprising creating an electronic folder (192) and storing the folder in an electronic folder management system creating , files (196) for the electronic folder maintaining a collection of electronic folders and the files stored therein, and associating the electronic folders with one or more files such that each of the files may be accesses by identifying the related electronic folder.
