A reinforcing assembly (18) for use with roll bars adapted to be mounted to motor vehicles such as an automobile. The reinforcing assembly (18) includes a heat-expandable synthetic resin reinforcing member (40) and a retainer (42) configured to attach the member (40) to the interior of a two-piece telescopically interfitting tubular roll bar construction (12 14). Upon heating, the reinforcing member expands to form a seal between the two roll bar tube sections (12 14) thereby providing sound-reduction and stability of the roll bar assembly.

Why it's free to use
- Filed April 19, 2001. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended April 19, 2021.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by April 19, 2023.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
