In an operating liquid feed fuel cell system fuel concentration in the fuel stream can be calculated as a function of the observed current the temperature of the fuel stream entering the fuel cell stack and the temperature of the fuel cell stack itself, thereby eliminating the need for a separate sensor. Typically, methanol will be used as the fuel and the liquid feed fuel cell system mill thus be a direct methanol fuel cell system.

Why it's free to use
- Filed December 18, 2002. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended December 18, 2022.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by December 18, 2024.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
