Abstract From the Canadian patent

There is provided a method of reducing biofilm formation by biofilm-forming bacterial cell such as E. coli, Salmonella or Klebsiella cells. CsrA activity , levels in the cell may be modulated to impact biofilm formation and glycogen metabolism. CsrA levels may be modulated by modulating the expression of csrB RNA and UvrY and Bar A gene products. By increasing levels of csrB BarA or SdiA in a , bacterial, cell or increasing the rate of UvrY phosphorylation one can increase the , levels of, active UvrY in the cell. There is also provided a modulator of CsrA activity in a, bacteria comprising a nucleotide sequence containing the sequence element CAGGAUG.

Why it's free to use

  • Filed December 19, 2002. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended December 19, 2022.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by December 19, 2024.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
