Abstract From the Canadian patent

In order to reliably determine the left-ventricular ejection time T LVE of a heart of a subject at least two different measuring methods are employed. This includes in any case the derivation of a first waveform related to thoracic electrical bioimpedance or bioadmittance. A second waveform can be determined by using pulse oximetry Doppler velocimetry, measurement of arterial blood pressure and measurement of peripheral electrical bioimpedance or bioadmittance. Depending on signal quality the results obtained by each method are weighted and then averaged. The weighted average for left-ventricular ejection time is used as an input variable for cardiovascular monitoring methods which …

Why it's free to use

  • Filed October 10, 2002 and granted September 9, 2014. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended October 10, 2022.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by October 10, 2024.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
