Abstract From the Canadian patent

In order to create a diffraction grating in an optical fiber with a predetermined pattern of the refractive index an ultraviolet radiation beam , (3) is scanned (5 8) along a photosensitive portion (F') of the fiber through a phase mask (9) and, during the scan, the beam intensity (4) and the maskfiber distance (10) are controlled moment by moment in such a way as to obtain the desired patterns of the mean value and of the envelope of the refractive index, respectively.

Why it's free to use

  • Filed March 26, 2001. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended March 26, 2021.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by March 26, 2023.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
