Abstract From the Canadian patent

A method for compensating for amplitude loss in a set of seismic traces where , the amplitude loss is caused by shallow (20) attenuation anomalies (25). Attenuation factors are calculated from first-arrival amplitudes for longoffset seismic data traces. Those factors are calculated by numerical methods using matrix inversion and iteration. Those factors (60) are used to adjust upward the amplitudes of all later-arriving seismic traces. Frequency dependent attenuation is treated by dividing the seismic traces into frequency ranges using band-pass filters, then using the above-described method within each frequency range after which the adjusted amplitudes are recombined. Amplitude …

Why it's free to use

  • Filed February 23, 2001. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended February 23, 2021.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by February 23, 2023.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
