Crosslinked tissue is contacted with one or more toxicity reducing solutions to remove cytotoxicity associated with the crosslinking process. In particular, crosslinked tissue can be contacted with an inorganic sulfuroxygen group to form chemical adducts of aldehydes and the inorganic sulfuroxygen group. Preferably, the cytotoxicity reduced crosslinked tissue has no residual cytotoxicity. In preferred embodiments a plurality of toxicity , reducing agents are used to detoxify the tissue. Preferred toxicity reducing agents include, for example, inorganic sulfur-oxygen ions such as bisulfate , and thiosulfate, organic sulfates amines, ammonia/ammonium, and surfactants.

Why it's free to use
- Filed December 22, 2000. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended December 22, 2020.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by December 22, 2022.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
