Described is a novel family of cell surface serpentine transmembrane antigens. Two of the proteins in this family are exclusively or predominantly expressed in the prostate, as well as in prostate cancer and thus members of this , family have been termed "STEAP" (Six Transmembrane Epithelial Antigen of the Prostate). Four particular human STEAPs are described and characterized herein. The human STEAPs exhibit a high degree of structural conservation among them but show no significant structural homology to any known human proteins. Why it's free to use
- Filed December 6, 2000 and granted May 29, 2012. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended December 6, 2020.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by December 6, 2022.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
