Contaminating viruses can be efficiently eliminated while scarcely losing the protein activity by treating a plasma protein composition with a fear of viral contamination with a porous membrane having a pore size larger than the diameter of a single viral particle, in particular subjecting the plasma , protein composition to fractionation by sedimentation prior to the treatment with the porous membrane. In particular fibrinogen compositions free from nonenvelope viruses, among all parvovirus can be provided thereby. Thus safe , plasma protein preparations free from any viruses can be conveniently provided.

Why it's free to use
- Filed December 20, 2000. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended December 20, 2020.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by December 20, 2022.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
