A slip-sheet compactor for an imaging device with automatic media handling capabilities provides a two-stage compaction for a slip-sheet removed from a media sheet to be imaged. A pair of rollers advances the slip-sheet into a pre-compression chamber effecting a first compression or folding operation. In a second compression a plunger, sweeps the pre-compression cavity which is narrowed towards an exit, slot thus effecting a second compression on the slip-sheet material. By performing individual compaction on each removed slip-sheet the, possibility of blockages or jams is reduced.

Why it's free to use
- Filed July 5, 2002. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended July 5, 2022.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by July 5, 2024.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
