Abstract From the Canadian patent

Disclosed is a dispersion shifted optical waveguide fiber having low but nonzero dispersion over an extended wavelength window that includes wavelengths from 1470 nm to 1625 nm. Waveguide fiber core refractive index profiles exhibit the desired dispersion performance while maintaining resistance to pin array and lateral load bending at least equivalent to standard waveguide fiber. Attenuation over the operating wavelength range is low and zero dispersion wavelength is typically less than 1450 nm.

Why it's free to use

  • Filed October 23, 2000. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended October 23, 2020.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by October 23, 2022.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
