An apparatus for use with a transport vehicle having a vehicle support frame to load, transfer, and unload bales of hay or straw and the like. The apparatus comprises a tilting frame (12) hingedly supported by the vehicle support frame (102) and a loader (16) hingedly attached to and supported by the tilting frame (12). The tilting frame (12) has a side member (38) and pivots about a first pivot axis (14) oriented generally horizontally and transverse to the vehicle.
