The invention relates to a communication system for the interaction between medical laboratories and medical treatment centers. Centralized laboratories already make use of data communication for transmitting analytical data while they still accept or handle orders in a conventional manner. According to the invention, all relevant laboratories and their specialized departments on the one hand and the medical treatment centers on the other hand are interconnected via data communication devices with an integrative central laboratory data base that is provided with a server computer.
