Abstract From the Canadian patent

An intravascular filter (2) having a filament (6) which expands a filter element (4). The filter filament (6) is a coil (20) which is stretched to reduce the diameter of the coil (20) for introduction. The filter element (4) is preferably biased toward the closed position and is opened by the coil (20) when tension is released on the coil (20). The filament (6) slides along the internal surface (19) of the filter element (6) so that the filter element (6) may assume intermediate positions.

Why it's free to use

  • Filed November 2, 2000. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended November 2, 2020.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by November 2, 2022.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
