This invention provides a process for making a nonwoven sheet of substantially continuous melt spun fibers by extruding melt spinnable polymer containing at least 30 % by weight low IV poly(ethylene terephthalate) drawing the extruded , fiber filaments at a rate of at least 6000 m/min laying the fiber filaments , down on a collection surface and bonding the fiber filaments together to form a nonwoven sheet. The invention further provides a nonwoven sheet comprised of at least 30 % by weight poly(ethylene terephthalate) having an intrinsic viscosity of less than 0.62 dl/g, where the sheet has a basis weight of less than 125 g/m2, and a grab tensile strength of at least 0.7 N/(g/m2).

Why it's free to use
- Filed December 20, 2000. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended December 20, 2020.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by December 20, 2022.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
