Abstract From the Canadian patent

The present invention relates to a novel protein called Insulin-Responsive Sequence DNA Binding Protein-1 (IRSBP-1) and nucleotide sequences that encode it. IRSBP-1 is capable of binding to nucleic acid regions associated with genes that respond when cells are exposed to insulin or insulin-like factors. IRSBP-1 regulates genes important in mediating the insulin response in humans and animals and in regulating pathological conditions such as diabetes obesity, insulin-resistant syndrome and cell proliferative disorders. The present invention provides nucleic acids that may be used as probes specific for hybridizing and detecting nucleic acid molecules that encode at least in part a …

Why it's free to use

  • Filed November 1, 2000. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended November 1, 2020.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by November 1, 2022.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
