Abstract From the Canadian patent

The invention describes a method for degrading polysaccharides by using an enzyme preparation comprising endo-.beta.-1,2-galactanase activity. In the process industry and in the paper machine environment in particular microbes , form biofilms on surfaces, consisting of microbes fibres, and polysaccharide , that protects the microbe cells increases the viscosity of the biofilm and , protects the biofilm against drying. By treating biofilms and other slime deposits in the process industry with the enzyme preparation according to the invention, the problems caused by biofilms to the process industry can be reduced. Why it's free to use

  • Filed September 29, 2000. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended September 29, 2020.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by September 29, 2022.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
